Fine Arts

Our Fine Arts mission at Vandalia Christian School is to provide a Christ-centered approach to the Arts that encourages students to discover the talents God has given them while encouraging them to utilize those talents for His glory. Whether by capturing the wonder of His creation on canvas, praising Him with their music, or by reciting a poem, our desire is for our students to echo the Psalmist who wrote, “O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.”

Vandalia Christian School’s Fine Arts programs consist of Art, Band/Choir, and Speech.

IMG_3725In today’s world, the concept of beauty is ever changing. Many artists want to adapt the standard of beauty to their own particular tastes in order to express themselves. However we believe God created the ultimate standard of beauty, and He deserves all of the glory. Students study the many purposes of art as well as classic artwork. The Vandalia Christian School Art Department exists to equip students with the necessary tools to develop quality art while giving glory to God.

Psalm 92:1-3 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.

As the verse above states, it is a good thing when we praise the Lord through music, both instrumental and vocal. When we choose to praise God, we can’t help but reflect on His blessings with a thankful heart. We are truly blessed to be teaching your child here at Vandalia and it is our desire to nurture them not only in their musical skills and appreciation, but also in their spiritual walk.

“Drama is literature in motion.” Every aspect of our lives includes public speaking or acting. Whether students seek to improve their public speaking skills or work on their acting technique, speech gives them the chance to be different characters, fearless and bold. The Speech program at VCS helps students become better communicators, and as Christians we should be affective communicators for Christ!
