The North Carolina Education Assistance Authority Opportunity Scholarship Program
If you know of a family that currently has a student enrolled in a NC public school and is interested in enrolling their child at VCS, please suggest they look at the Opportunity Scholarship Program. This is a need based program that can pay up to 90% of their tuition based upon income. The final date to apply is January 31, 2016. I wish this program was available to our current families, but it isn’t…. yet. Keep praying about that or that at least our legislators would see the benefit of tax credit.
Interested families can go to www.ncseaa.edu for more information and enrollment forms.

Word from My Heart
Many of you may have heard of Ron Hamilton, better known as “Patch the Pirate.” Mr. Hamilton is a renowned composer of godly Christian Music. (By the way, if you are looking for uplifting Christian children’s music, consider going to www.majestymusic.com to find information about the Patch the Pirate music/story series. You will enjoy it as much as your pre-school and elementary age children.)
I recently had the opportunity to have dinner with him and I him told about the first time my children met him. When Audra was 5 and the boys were 3, we visited the church where he was the music director. Since they had heard many of the Patch the Pirate CDs you can imagine how excited they were to meet the REAL “Patch.” When the kids went up to him he took the time to kneel down and talk to them. On the way home I asked them what it was like to meet the real “Patch.” All of the boys said it was sad. When I asked why, their response was, “because his patch was brown, not black.” On all of the album covers the cartoon picture of him shows a black patch. Mr. Hamilton thought that was so funny.
No detail is too small. My children really had no idea what an honor it was to meet such a talented man. All they noticed was a small detail which made up the big picture. God wants each of to be detailed people. He wants us to take the Word and apply each precept, big and small…all, not just the ones that suit us that day. In those details of obedience, a tapestry of what He wants us to become will emerge. No detail is too small.
