Re-Enrollment!

Re-enrollment time is upon us!  This year, in lieu having on-campus meetings to make the re-enrollment process as convenient as possible for our Current VCS Family, re-enrollment forms were sent home last Thursday, February 5.  We have several very exciting changes for the fall of 2015 that has been outlined in your re-enrollment packet.  Please keep in mind that we have an Open House scheduled for March 10 from 7:00pm-8:30pm for prospective familiesPass the word on to your family and friends interested in VCS. Please remember that many of our new families come to VCS as a result of the information they receive from our current families.  As a way of saying “Thank You” for presenting our school to prospective families, if your name is written on the enrollment form of a new family as the person who recommended them to the school, you will receive a $200 discount on your tuition  ($100 in December and $100 in May).  The only requirement is that the family remains with us for the semester in which the $100 is given.  Make sure the family you are recommending know to place your name on their application before they turn it into the office.

“Talk of the Town” Information

This week, fliers were sent out to families in our community about our school ministry through the “Talk of the Town” mailing.  We have several fliers left over.  If you work at a business that would be willing to place them at the reception area, please pick up some from Mrs. Frazier, Mrs. Keller or Mrs. James.  Thank you!

Ladies Conference at Vandalia Baptist Church

On March 21, Vandalia Baptist Church will host a “Ladies Conference” featuring Dr. Cathy Dotson, administrator at Wilmington Christian Academy.  She is a sought after conference speaker and is very articulate and entertaining.  If you are interested in attending the conference, please stop by any of the offices for a flier.  You may also find more information and download the registration form on the VBC website. There is a $10 cost which includes the conference sessions and lunch.

TOYS & Co.

The folks at TOYS & Co. enjoy giving back to the community that is so generous to them throughout the year.  One way that they give back is through their “School Week.”  During this week, from March 7-14, anyone who shops at the Friendly Center Store is encouraged to let the cashier know they are affiliated with VCS and they will donate 20% of those sales straight back to VCS.  Information was sent home today.

Junior Class Chick-fil-A Breakfast

Please note that the Junior Class will make “Chick-fil-A” biscuits available through the concession stand from 7:30am-8:00am on Wednesdays throughout the remainder of the semester.  An announcement will be made each Monday and Tuesday before the “sale.”

Summer Daycare Craft Supplies

The summer daycare program is collecting coffee cans WITH lids, (plastic or metal), for a project they have planned this summer.  Please consider dropping off any empty cans you might have to “C” building so they can be recycled into a fun project.

Children Around the World

For the last several years the elementary school of VCS has sponsored a “Children Around the World” festival.  The event helps to teach the children to develop a love for missionaries and others around the world, encourages them to pray for the missionaries of their chosen country, correspond with a missionary family via letters, email and skype and learn about the culture, food and customs of other countries.  The festival will be held on Wednesday, April 1.  More information will be sent home by their teachers.  But make your plans now to visit our “Global Community” in the VCS Gym on April 1!

VCS Annual Candy Sale!

The “World’s Finest Candy” sale was a great success!  Thank you! Please note that all unsold candy should have been returned today.  If you still have candy, please make sure it is returned by tomorrow. If you have any questions or need more candy, please contact Mrs. Frazier, Mrs. Keller or Mrs. James.

Please note that class and individual Spring pictures will be taken on February 18.  Class pictures need to be pre-ordered.  Keep an eye out for the order forms.

Digital Sign Updates

Please take note of the updates that are made daily to the digital sign in front of “B” Building.  We make an effort to insure that upcoming events and schedule changes are posted each morning.

HeadMaster/SchoolCast

If you are having any problems with these programs, please call “C” Building office for assistance.  Also keep in mind that with the threat of wintry weather upon us, it is imperative that you make sure your contact information is current.  If you have not taken the time to update your contact numbers on SchoolCast, please do so.  This the best way of contacting you in case of closings or emergencies.

VCS Yearbook

Please take note that a memo was recently sent home about having your child’s name “stamped” on this year’s VIKING yearbook.  The final due date is February 27.  Please give us a call if you have any questions.

Boxtops for Education and Campbell Soup Labels

Please keep in mind that VCS is still collecting “Box Tops for Education” and “Campbell’s” Soup labels. Just send them in with your students when you have them.  Over the years we have received 10’s of thousands of dollars to put back in to the ministry.  Thank you for your help!

Harris Teeter/Office Depot Helps VCS!

Have you linked your Harris Teeter VIC Card to the Vandalia Christian School “Together in Education”  code 2227? Harris Teeter contributes a percentage of all HT brand purchases to the Vandalia Christian School  TIE account when your VIC card is linked to our school. Here are two easy ways to link your VIC card:  Visit your Harris Teeter store and ask your cashier to link your card to 2227. OR Visit www.HarrisTeeter.com  Community, Together in Education and link your card online.

Keep in mind as well that Office Depot offers contributions back to VCS if you let them know at the time of purchase that your children go to Vandalia

Morning Parking

Just a gentle reminder that when you drop-off your preschoolers in front of “A” building, please make sure that you park in a parking space if you desire to walk your child to the classroom.  It is very important that you do not park in the “No Parking” zone.

Prison Ministry Outreach

If you have any Bibles that you are no longer using and would like to give them to others less fortunate, consider donating them to a prison outreach ministry.  Give them to any of the school offices and we will ensure they are put in the hands of men and women in prison that are seeking.

Word from My Heart

Well, it happened.  This past Monday, I had to stop by Wal-Mart to pick up a few items.  On my way out I decided to stop by the “in-store” Mikey “D’s” to grab a diet Coke.  The lady behind the counter said, “Would you like the senior citizen value drink.?” At first I was offended, then I thought, “Hey, that is 50% off.”  I said, “Sure!”  I assume there is no turning back now.  I shall embrace it.

Upon reflection, I considered the way God looks at us.  We may change in our appearance, but to Him, through the shed blood of His Son Jesus Christ, we are “new” creatures; redeemed and destined  to live forever with Him in Heaven.  This earthly temple may wax and wane, but in our Lord’s eyes, we will always be His children.
