PTF Family Fun Night
Friday, March 7, VCS will host its 16th Annual “Pack Out the Gym” Family Fun Night! Fliers were sent home today about the event. Please make your plans now to attend this fun-filled event. If you wish to purchase a spaghetti or hot dog dinner, please send in the bottom portion of the flier that was sent home. (If you do not have time to send in the order form, still come…we will have plenty!) Please give us a call if you have any questions.
World’s Finest Chocolate
The Chocolate Sale is now over. Thank you to all that supported this event. If you have any candy or monies from the sale, please send it back in by Friday, February 28. I am so thankful for our school families. You did an amazing job!
Our FINAL re-enrollment meeting for the school year, 2014-15 will be Friday, February 28 at 2:00pm in the church. As in years past, we will have a brief meeting to discuss the upcoming year and distribute re-enrollment packets. An email was sent previously with the dates for our meetings. If you are not able to attend one of the scheduled meetings, you are welcomed to attend an open enrollment meeting with new families. However, please keep in mind we had some families that ended up on waiting lists because they did not come to a re-enrollment meeting. We cannot guarantee re-enrollment if you wait until open enrollment to attend a meeting. As always, if you have any questions, please let me know. Open Enrollment begins March 13! After that date, enrollment is first come, first served bases.
Snow Day Pictures
If you have any pictures of your children from the snow days, please consider emailing them to Miss Adams at Courtney.firstname.lastname@example.org They have an extra spread and thought it would be an interesting feature and a way to put high school and elementary on the same page.
Student Council Honors our Servicemen and Women
Our high school volunteer group will be visiting our local service men and women this Friday, February 28. They will be taking “Belated Valentines” that our elementary students made in their classes as a thank you for their dedication to our community. As we did last year, we would also like to drop-off some baked goods as a thank you from our school family. If you would be willing to donate some cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc., please send them to your child’s teacher either Thursday or Friday of next week. Please make sure they are in a sealed container or zip top bags. Thank you for helping us show our love and appreciation to the firemen, policemen and EMT professionals that serve our community.
BELKS Charity Day
In the next few weeks I will share with you some pertinent information about an upcoming event that will benefit our school and your pocket book! Keep your eyes peeled ladies….sorry men.
Viking Night at Subway!
Viking Night was such a success that we are going to continue! Here are the dates for this semester: March 12, April 9 and May 14. VCS will receive a percentage of all sales from 5pm-9pm on these dates. Come out and help our school as well as getting a healthy meal!
Please keep in mind that if we close or delay school you will receive a call through our SchoolCast mass communication system. We also post that information on channels 2 and 8. If you do not get a call or see it posted, that means we are on a regular schedule. Since we do not run busses we can often open school when the public schools cannot. With that being said, when we have wintry weather and VCS is open but you do not feel comfortable driving to school or sending your students that drive, please don’t. We will ALWAYS forgive tardies and absences on bad weather days.
As part of our out-reach program, we would like to collect any unused Bibles you might have around your home. We will collect them at “C” Building. Thank you.
Europe Trip 2015
If you were not able to attend the meeting in October concerning the trip we are planning to London, Paris, Switzerland and Austria, it is not too late! Please stop by the office in “C” Building to pick up information. This is going to be a great trip and since it is almost two years out, it is very cost effective! Please give me a call or send me an email if you have any questions. Please note that when you register online, our tour number is 1432788JD. That is different from the label on the flier you may have gotten. Sorry about confusion. This is going to be an amazing trip!!!
Helping VCS While You Shop
If you shop at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Target or Lifeway, please consider linking your rewards card with our school. We get quarterly checks from them that go toward the Christmas Staff Appreciation Drive. Thank you for your consideration of this blessing to the teachers!

Lost & Found
Keep in mind that all lost items will be placed in “Lost & Found” in “A” and “C” buildings. Please check these weekly if you are missing anything. Please note that all of the unclaimed items will be donated to charity at the end of each month. If you will write your child’s name in all clothing items, we will make sure anything lost is returned to you.
Word from My Heart
Well, I have lost the battle of the green beans. It seems that most of the people that responded to my “Word from My Heart” last week think I should use the fruits and veggies that I canned last summer during these last few weeks of winter. Although I don’t agree, I have humbled myself and will allow the pantry to be raided without further discussion. (I might grumble under my breath a bit, however.)
To continue the thought from last week, the gifts God has for His children are always available. Why is it we keep them on the shelf rather than open them and use them for His glory and for our good? God tells us if we will pray, He will answer. He tells us if we will give, He will provide. He tells us if we will submit, He will support.
Open some of God’s promises today. Your spiritual appetite will be filled.
