Easter Holidays

Due to the number of days we missed because of snow, we have adjusted our Easter Holidays to ONLY April 2 and 3.  We understand that many of our families may have planned vacations for April 2-7. Please note that we will excuse any days absent on those days as long as your child in grades PreK – 6 brings in a note or students in grades 7-12 gets an “Advanced Approval” slip by Wednesday morning, April 1, from Mrs. Keller or Mrs. James.  All missed tests, quizzes and homework will be required to be completed.

Re-enrollment time is underway!  This year, in lieu having on-campus meetings to make the re-enrollment process as convenient as possible for our Current VCS Family, re-enrollment forms were sent home Thursday, February 5.  If you did not receive or misplaced your re-enrollment packet, please see Mrs. Keller, Mrs. Frasier or Mrs. James.  We have several very exciting changes for the fall of 2015 that has been outlined in your re-enrollment packet.  Many of our new families come to VCS because of our current families.  To say “Thank You” for presenting our school to new families, if your name is written on the enrollment form of a new family as the person who recommended them to the school, you will receive a $200 discount on your tuition ($100 in December and $100 in May).  The family must remain enrolled for the semester in which the $100 is given.

World’s Finest Chocolate Winners

Please take note that we still have several boxes of World’s Finest Chocolate left over for sale.  There are 60 bars per case but we will sell them to our parents for $45 per case.  If you sell the entire case at $1.00 per bar that is a $15 profit for YOU!  Please see Mrs. Frazier in Building “B” if you would like to buy a case of chocolate.

Junior Class Chick-fil-A Breakfast

The Junior Class will make “Chick-fil-A” biscuits available through the concession stand from 7:30am-8:00am on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the remainder of the semester.

War of the Special Forces

VCS will once again host the “War of the Special Forces” during the week of April 13-17.  This is an invigorating, Christ-honoring team building event.  (Much like the WILDS.)  This week long event is for our students in grades 7-12.  Please watch the video below for a sneak peak at what your children are going to experience.

Summer Missions Trips

We have a record number of students traveling abroad this summer on Missions Trips.  If you are interested in financially supporting any of these dedicated young people, please give me a call.  Even if we cannot support with our money, we can support with our prayers.  Pray for our VCS students as they seek to make an impact to a lost world this summer.

Summer Day Camp Craft Supplies

The summer day camp program is collecting coffee cans WITH lids, (plastic or metal), for a project they have planned this summer.  Please consider dropping off any empty cans you might have to “C” building so they can be recycled into a fun project.

Children Around the World

For the last several years the elementary school of VCS has sponsored a “Children Around the World” festival.  The event helps to teach the children to develop a love for missionaries and others around the world, encourages them to pray for the missionaries of their chosen country, correspond with a missionary family via letters, email and skype and learn about the culture, food and customs of other countries.  The festival will be held on Wednesday, April 1.  Make your plans now to visit our “Global Community” in the VCS Gym on April 1!

Junior/Senior Banquet~Social

All young ladies that are planning to attend the “Junior/Senior” must have their dresses checked by Mrs. Herriage by April 6.  However, note that the girls do not have to wait until April 6 to have them checked.  The sooner the better!  Just stop by “C” Building at your convenience to see Mrs. Herriage or call ahead to make an appointment.  Thank you!!

Children’s Good News Spectacular

On Saturday, April 11 at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds, Child Evangelism Fellowship will host its annual Good News Spectacular.  This FREE event will run from 10am until 3pm.

Updates are made daily to the digital sign in front of “B” Building.  Keep an “eye out!”

Shopping Helps VCS

Over the last 10 years VCS has received well in excess of $15,000 in gifts from “Shopper Loyalty Programs.”  Every little bit counts!  Thank you for thinking of VCS when you purchase your milk, bread and eggs!

Boxtops for Education and Campbell Soup Labels

Please keep in mind that VCS is still collecting “Box Tops for Education” and “Campbell’s” Soup labels. Just send them in with your students when you have them.  Over the years we have received 10’s of thousands of dollars to put back in to the ministry.  Thank you for your help!

Harris Teeter/Office Depot Helps VCS! /Target

Please link your Harris Teeter VIC Card to the Vandalia Christian School “Together in Education” code 2227. Harris Teeter contributes a percentage of all HT brand purchases to the Vandalia Christian School TIE account when your VIC card is linked to our school. Here are two easy ways to link your VIC card:  Visit your Harris Teeter store and ask your cashier to link your card to 2227. OR Visit  Community, Together in Education and link your card online.

Keep in mind as well that Office Depot offers contributions back to VCS if you let them know at the time of purchase that your children go to Vandalia.  Also, we are partnered with Target as well.  If you have not linked our school with Target you can easily do so at the customer service desk.

Word from My Heart

Can you believe we have only a little over 40 days of school left before summer break?  You have no idea how many people come up to me and say, “Aren’t you excited?  Only “so many” days of school left!”  To be honest that is terrifying to me!  Mrs. Herriage, Mrs. Cordova and I don’t see the last day of school ahead, we see all the wonderful things that have to be done before that last day.  I can say without hesitation this is an exciting time, albeit a bit busy!  But to see the excitement on the faces of our seniors and underclassmen makes it all worth it.

I think God is pleased when He sees His children excited about what the future holds as well.  We as children of the Living God have a hope and future that helps us to press on.  There are countless millions around the world that do not have that hope.  Might I challenge you today to share your Hope with someone that is seeking?  Share the wealth of Salvation during this Easter Season.  You might be the only one to ever reach that one that is in need.

Dr. W
