As hard as it is to believe we are well underway in a new school year! Please let us know if there is anything we can do help you and your family as we transition into the 2014-2015 school year. If you need to contact a teacher, remember the most expedient way is through email. Each teacher’s email address is their email@example.com
Again this year, Vandalia Baptist Church will host AWANA, (Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed), a boys and girls club for children ages 3 through 6th grade. The program will begin September 10. The AWANA ministry is a free program held each Wednesday night from 7:00pm-8:30pm. You may register your child(ren) online or at the first meeting. Please contact Garrett Jackson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303-2162 if you would like more information.
On September 11, VCS will host its annual Grandparents Day. Forms were sent home last week concerning this event. We are looking for some help in our afterschool program from 2:45pm until 6:00pm Monday through Friday. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Mrs. Herriage at 379-8380.
Thank you to all that have been diligently selling Back-to-School BBQ tickets. We are looking forward to a great time next week. There will be an informational meeting on Friday, September 5, for 9th – 12th graders that are interested in using eTextbooks this year. Each interested student will get an informational letter to take home on Friday.

Word from My Heart
What a big weekend around my house! My son Drew flew home in the “nick of time” to walk down the aisle and marry his bride. (I’ll tell you the story sometime, but it was a God-thing.) As we were driving briskly from the airport after he arrived at 5:55pm to get married at 6:30, Drew asked me what he was supposed to do during the ceremony. (He was not able to make it to the rehearsal.) I told him he will walk in with me and walk out with her. That is all he needed to remember. All went well. Sometimes things really do go better when we don’t overthink them.
In our relationship with God He reminds us often that all we have to do is walk with Him and let Him do His perfect work. It is only when we take matters into our own hands that we find ourselves in a bind. Just keep in mind that all we have to do is walk in to God’s loving grace and walk out forever in His care.
