Starting this Friday, September 8, VCS will cater-in pizza for our students to enjoy during lunch. (Only $1.25 per slice!) It is very important that you let your students’ teacher know if your child intends to purchase pizza on our designated PIZZA FRIDAYS!  Our teachers will ask their students on Thursdays, how many slices each student intends to purchase so we can get as accurate account as possible.  This will ensure that quality control and freshness is ensured.  GOTTA LOVE SOME PIZZA!

Although the “official” Attractions Book Sale is over, we still have Attractions Books for sale.  Please see Mrs. Frazier for more information.

Hurricane Harvey Relief

Many of our students and parents have asked how we can help in the wake of the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.  VCS is committed to help other Christian Schools in Texas and Louisiana that were impacted in the wake of that historic storm.  We will let you know as soon as we do about the needs of other Christian Schools in need of help.  In the meantime, if you would like to donate to the disaster relief from Hurricane Harvey, go to

For several years, Vandalia Baptist Church has offered the AWANA  program on Wednesday nights during the VCS School Year.  For the 2017-2018 school year, the AWANA program will again be used for K4-2nd Grade Students.  However, in a continuing effort to focus on real Bible Memorization and the “Hiding of God’s WORD” in our kid’s hearts, we are starting the Vandalia Bible Club for 3rd – 6th graders.  More details will be sent home as we get closer to the “September 13th Kick-Off” date.  You may pre-register at

VCS Host’s NCCSA Cross Country

VCS is once again privileged to host the North Carolina Christian School Association’s State Cross Country Meet.  As you can imagine, this is a tremendous undertaking.  In order to be gracious hosts to this event, we are asking any families that might be willing to donate small bottles of water, sports drinks, Capri Sun pouches or granola bars to drop them off at Mrs. Zeigler’s or Mrs. James’ desk any time between now and October 30.  Thank You!

Helping Us Help Your Children

The beginning of the school year is the best time to consider helping VCS with the shopping you already do!

Continue to turn in your Box Tops-for-Education tabs from General Mills products to your child’s teacher.  With the student body of our size, it will be amazing to see the benefit from this “EASY Fundraiser” if all of us join in!

Also, remember to link or re-link your Harris-Teeter VIC card so we can benefit from the Together in Education program.  Just mention VCS and our school code, 2227.  If you have friends and family that are not already donating to other schools through the VIC card program, suggest they link their card to our school.  Food Lion’s MVP card is also linked to our school.  Mention us the next time you shop with them.

Unfortunately the Labels for Education program has come to a close. Only UPCs with the Labels for Education logo can be accepted and redeemed for points into our school’s account. The deadline to submit and postmark UPCs into our school’s account is January 2, 2018, so we ask that you submit any labels you might have by December 14, before our Christmas Break.  Thanks!

VCS Career Day

In the Spring of 2018, VCS will host a Career Day!  This will be a fun-filled day allowing our students the opportunity to check-out several career paths, within God’s perfect plan, for their lives.  If you would like to be a part of our “Career Day Committee”, please contact Dr. Amy Brian using her email address,

Drama Department Opportunities

The Drama Department is looking for pieces to add to our “wardrobe/prop” closet.  If you have any items that we could use, we would be SO grateful!  (ex:  costumes, masks, wigs, eyeglasses, overalls, pants, shirts, neckties, old telephones, canes, costume jewelry, hats, etc).  Please bring donated items to the “A” building office anytime.

VCS Website

In a continuing attempt to update and make our school website as relevant and informative as possible, we are looking for input from our school families.  If you would like to share a comment about our school that we might post to our website, please email that to me.  A final draft will be given to you before it is posted.

VCS Fine Arts

Attention VCS Student MUSICIANS:  We want your help!  If you sing or play an instrument and want to lead music in our chapel services, please see Ms. Young to fill out an application.  Stop by her room after school with your prepared song and written testimony, a one paragraph summery is fine!  If you have any questions, feel free to email  We are really looking forward to training students for leadership in ministry.

Grandparent’s Day

Please remember that the LAST day to register for Grandparent’s Day is this Friday, September 8.In order to prepare for this special day, we can take no late orders.  Please remember this is a day set apart for grandparents of students in grades Pre-K3 through the 6th grade only.  The schedule for arrival is located on the registration form.  If you have any questions, please give us a call.

Student of the Month

Please take a look at the Digital Bulletin Boards in each of our school buildings to see the names of the students that were chosen as the September Student of the Month.  Congratulations to these outstanding young people.

Word from My Heart

Whew, what a rainy day with which we have been blessed!  The scriptures remind us that God gives us the rain that we need to bless us and the drought to remind us that He is good in the good times and remains good in the bad times.

To God be the glory!
