Special Meetings at VBC and VCS
On October 6-10, Vandalia Baptist Church will have a series of special revival meetings with Dr. David Wood. Dr. Wood was in our school last year and was one of the favorite speakers of our students. Services will begin each evening at 7pm in the church. We will also have special services each school day, October 7-9, at 9:10 each morning in the gym for grades 7-12 and at 8:15am on October 8, for grades 3-6. Please come if you can. Also, there will be a very special Dramatic Production on Thursday evening, October 10, depicting the Crucifixion of Christ. The drama will be held in the gym and is open to everyone. Please pass the word!
Due to a price increase from our suppliers, the cost of Milk, Ice Cream and Juice is increasing to 60 cents per item and Chips are increasing to 40 cent per bag. We try our very best to keep costs down in the cafeteria, but we have no control over our suppliers. Thank you for your understanding. This price change will begin on Tuesday, October 1.
Thank you for your prayers for the students, parents and staff that went to the WILDS last week. It was a great time of refreshment, solid Bible teaching, fun and fellowship. Several of our teens made decisions for Christ. Please continue to pray for all of our students as they grow in their faith. Also, we had several items of clothing that were left behind in the dorms and cabins. Those items were laundered and are on a table in “C” Building. If your child lost something, please stop by and see if it is there. All unclaimed items will be donated to charity next week.
VCS Security Team Meeting
There will be a meeting of all parent volunteers that would like to be a part of the VCS Security Team on Thursday, October 3, at 7pm in the church sanctuary. Even if you have not let me know already but would like to participate, please plan on attending. Thank you!

Dear Vandalia Family, October 10, is VIKING NIGHT at the Subway Restaurant located at 3212 Randleman Road across the street from the RUSH beside Food Lion. (Only minutes from the school.) This past summer I had the honor to travel to England, France and Spain with about 60 other students and educators. (8 of which were from our school!) We had a wonderful 10 days and learned so much and saw many of the most beautiful sights in the world. We will not be going to Europe this summer as I am planning to take a group of teachers to Uganda, Africa, to work with a Christian school there. However, we are planning a trip to Austria, Germany and Lichtenstein the summer of 2015. This will allow those that wish to go to have almost two years to pay for the trip! We will have an informational meeting Tuesday evening, October 1, at 7:00pm in the Church Sanctuary. This trip is open to all students in grades 9-12 and grades 7-8 if accompanied by a chaperone.
Helping VCS While You Shop
If you shop at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Target or Lifeway, please consider linking your rewards card with our school. We get quarterly checks from them that go toward the Christmas Teacher’s Bonus Program. Thank you for your consideration of this blessing to the teachers!

Lost & Found
Keep in mind that all lost items will be placed in “Lost & Found” in “A” and “C” buildings. Please check these weekly if you are missing anything. Please note that all of the unclaimed items will be donated to charity at the end of each month. If you will write your child’s name in all clothing items, we will make sure lost are returned to you.
Our school has been blest with numerous individuals that own their own businesses. If you are one of those individuals and would like to let others know within our school family about your business, please let me know. I will need you to send me an email with your name, your business’s name and your contact information. After a few weeks I will compile that information and make it available to our school families.
Word from My Heart
This past week at the WILDS was great. It was nice to be with the kids and staff in a non-academic setting for a few days and just let God do His work. Although there were several good memories, a few stand out beyond all the rest. Each morning I would get up a little earlier than the rest of my cabin and walk to the top of the hill where the lodge is located and sit on the deck. At that vantage point I could look down to the creek and the mountains beyond. It was very peaceful. I was reminded of a verse that was shared with me just a few weeks ago; Exodus 14:14 which says, “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” That verse basically means. “God has everything under control; just sit down and be quiet.” What a blessing to know that we have a Heavenly Father that has already fought and WON the battles that are before us.
