The senior class is selling Chick-fil-A Calendars for 2015 to help offset the cost of their senior trip in January. These high value calendars are available for purchase through any of the offices. The cost per calendar is $7, which is less than you can buy them for at the Chick-fil-A restaurants. These calendars will be available through December 22 and they make great Christmas presents! Please give us a call if you have any questions.
The annual PSAT Test will be given to all 10th and 11th Graders on October 15. The cost for this required test is $15. You may give this fee to your child’s homeroom teacher or one of the school offices prior to the testing date or on the day of test. Please make your checks payable to VCS. Thank you!
We have a school parent that is a certified math teacher that is available during study halls for homework help, test preparation and remediation for grades 7-9. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact me via email and I will pass on your contact information.
Our Spirit Wear shirts should be in today or tomorrow. Our goal is to have them to you no later than Friday morning for the homecoming festivities on Friday evening, October 3!
Business Parent Listing
“Best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” Last semester it was our intent to provide to our school parents a listing of VCS Parent Business. That did not happen, however, it will happen this semester! If you have a home-based or personal business you would like for me to share with our VCS Family, please email me the following information and I will compile this information and pass it on to our school family: Business Name, Contact information, (phone and email), brief description of the service provided and any other pertinent information that you think might be helpful. Please send this information to me by Friday, October 10 to be included in this year’s directory.
State NCCSA Volleyball/Soccer Tournament
VCS is hosting the NCCSA State Tournament for Volleyball/Soccer this year. Please make your plans to attend! As the host school, please plan to park in the church parking lot on that day if you are planning to support the teams.
Again this year, Vandalia Baptist Church will host AWANA, (Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed), a boys and girls club for children ages 3 through 6th grade. The program began September 10; however, it is not too late to join. The AWANA ministry is a free program held each Wednesday night from 7:00pm-8:30pm. Please contact Garrett Jackson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303-2162 if you would like more information.
“Thank you to those who have already contributed to the Staff Appreciation Fund. If you have not yet had the opportunity to do so, there is still time. Please makes checks payable to VCS and write Staff Appreciation on the envelope. If you would like to be added to the email list, please send your email address to email@example.com Thank you for considering this ministry.” The Staff Appreciation Committee
Attractions Book Sale
Thank you to all who participated in the Attractions Book Sale. If you have not turned in or paid for your book(s), please do so as soon as possible. The sale is over and we need to close out our records, however, we do have extra books in the office if you would like to purchase one.
We are looking for a part time accompanist to work with our choral groups this year. If are interested or know of someone that might be, please contact me. Thank you!
VCS “Five BELOW” Opportunity
“Five Below” is offering a special week of fundraising for Vandalia. Through this Saturday, October 4 you can shop at Five Below on Wendover Avenue and 10% of every purchase will be given to our school. A flier was sent last home last week and there are additional copies in the offices. You can make as many copies as you like and shop as many times as you want.
If you or your child in grades 7-12 and all alumni and friends might be interested in a trip to Europe with VCS this summer, please consider contacting the office as soon as possible. There is still room on this trip to England, France, Munich and Austria. It will be amazing!
Lost and Found
The “Lost and Found” bins are located in “A” and “C” buildings. If your child has lost an item, please stop by and check these bins. All unclaimed items will be removed and donated to charity on at regular intervals.
Word from My Heart
Last week our VCS faculty was privileged to attend a teacher’s convention in Myrtle Beach. (I know….suffering for Jesus.) But in all actuality it was work, but very refreshing. We had several “Super Sessions” where we got energized from the Word, we had many sessions taught by co-laborers in Christian Education from around the nation that energized our work, and we had the opportunity to talk to fellow teachers that we only see in this type of setting once a year that lifted our spirits.
This conference reminded me that sometimes we just need to get away. It is not that we don’t miss our students and school family, but sometimes we just need to reflect on how blessed we are. When was the last time you stopped, looked around and thought, “God is so good to me. I am in His hand of perfect care and protection.” Notice I did not say ease, but rather perfect care. Take a moment today to reflect on what God has done for you.
