Special Meetings at VBC and VCS

David WoodOn October 6-10, Vandalia Baptist Church will have a series of special revival meetings with Dr. David Wood.  Dr. Wood was in our school last year and was one of the favorite speakers of our students.  Services will begin each evening at 7pm in the church on Monday through Wednesday.  Also, there will be a very special Dramatic Production on Thursday evening, October 10, depicting the Crucifixion of Christ.  The drama will be held in the gym and is open to everyone.  Please pass the word!  We will also have special services each school day, October 7-9, at 9:10 each morning in the gym for grades 7-12 and at 8:15am on October 8, for grades 3-6.  Please come if you can.

Europe Trip 2015

If you were not able to attend the meeting on Tuesday night, October 1, concerning the trip we are planning to London, Paris, Switzerland and Austria, it is not too late!  Please stop by the office in “C” Building to pick up information.  This is going to be a great trip and since it is almost two years out, it is very cost effective!

We Need Your Help!

VCS is hosting a “new food collection” drive for families and people in need.  Below is a list of non-perishables that will help those who may need a little help to “make ends meet.”  You could also consider donating a gift card from a local grocery store to help with perishable purchases for the needy families; we will accept donations at any time during the school year.  Thank you so much for your help.

Non-perishable Items:

Peanut butter, Jelly, Canned Vegetables, Pasta, Canned Pasta Sauce, Boxed Meals (Hamburger Helper, Ramen Noodles, Kraft Mac and Cheese,) Rice, Instant Potatoes, Cereal, Soup, Canned Meals, Beans, Baby Food or Oatmeal.

Cafeteria News

Due to a price increase from our suppliers, the cost of Milk, Ice Cream and Juice is increasing to 60 cents per item and Chips are increasing to 40 cent per bag.  We try our very best to keep costs down in the cafeteria, but we have no control over our suppliers.  Thank you for your understanding.  This price change began on Tuesday, October 1.

VCS Security Team Meeting

There will be a meeting of all parent volunteers that would like to be a part of the VCS Security Team on Thursday, October 3, at 7pm in the church sanctuary.  Even if you have not let me know already but would like to participate, please plan on attending.  Thank you!

Business Advertisements

Our school has been blest with numerous individuals that own their own businesses.  If you are one of those individuals and would like to let others know within our school family about your business, please let me know.  I will need you to send me an email with your name, your business’s name and your contact information.  This will be the last week I will ask about this. Next week I will compile and send out the directory!  This will be an ongoing project, so if you sent me information and it is not in the directory or if your contact information changes please let me know.  Also, if you have not sent me your contact information but our like to have it added, just let me know!

Word from My Heart

On Saturday my family and I took a day trip to the mountains.  We went to Shatley Springs for breakfast. Never been? Google it….very much like Lil’ Abner and Dogpatch, but wonderful food!  Then we went to West Jefferson, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk.  It was great fun.  There was a Fall Festival going on in West Jefferson and there was a lady there selling puppies; Bichon Griffons. So cute.  As most of you know we recently lost our dog of 12 years and I now want another one.  If that dog did not cost $400 I would have one today!  I have the puppy fever, very much like car fever, but puppies don’t smell as nice.

As I walked away from that little guy I reflected on the fact that God never walks away from us.  We can be so very selfish, sinful and sorry, but God always opens His arms and welcomes us home.  As believers in Christ, isn’t it wonderful to know that we always have loving arms to fall into.  God is so good.

Dr. W
