Europe Trip 2015
If you were not able to attend the meeting on Tuesday night, October 1, concerning the trip we are planning to London, Paris, Switzerland and Austria, it is not too late! Please stop by the office in “C” Building to pick up information. This is going to be a great trip and since it is almost two years out, it is very cost effective! The first deadline to register for the trip and get a $200 discount will be Thursday, October 31. Please give me a call or send me an email if you have any questions. This is going to be an amazing trip!!!
We Need Your Help!
VCS is hosting a “new food collection” drive for families and people in need. Below is a list of non-perishables that will help those who may need a little help to “make ends meet.” You could also consider donating a gift card from a local grocery store to help with perishable purchases for the needy families; we will accept donations at any time during the school year. Thank you so much for your help.
Peanut butter, Jelly, Canned Vegetables, Pasta, Canned Pasta Sauce, Boxed Meals (Hamburger Helper, Ramen Noodles, Kraft Mac and Cheese,) Rice, Instant Potatoes, Cereal, Soup, Canned Meals, Beans, Baby Food or Oatmeal.
Every once in a while someone in our school family needs some help outside of their skill set. I know of someone that is looking for a mason and would like to first ask within our school family. If you have that skill and would like to make your talents available, please let me know.
VCS Security Team Meeting
There was a meeting of all parent volunteers that would like to be a part of the VCS Security Team on Thursday, October 3. Even if you were not able to attend this meeting and you are willing to help with this ministry, please give us your contact information including your name, contact numbers and when you can assist us. We would like to run two shifts, one from 7:30am – 12noon and one from 12noon – 3:20pm each day. Once I get all of that information compiled I will let you know your schedule. We will provide you with identifying clothing and lunch each day you assist us. We would like to implement this as soon as possible, but I still need a few more folks to fill out the schedule.
VCS Subway Night
Dear Vandalia Family, Tonight, October 10, is VIKING NIGHT at the Subway Restaurant located at 3212 Randleman Road across the street from the RUSH beside Food Lion. (Only minutes from the school.) From 5:00pm until 9:00pm VCS will receive a gracious percentage of the net sales. Consider stopping by and get a healthy, fresh and delicious dinner…and help the school out at the same time! Afterwards come to VCS gym for a special event we are hosting. (See above.) We will have future VIKING NIGHTS November 13 and December 11. Tell your friends and other family members to come out for this great event.

Word from My Heart
Whew! What a week! We have had the opportunity to host Dr. David Wood in our school during the day and at Vandalia Baptist Church each evening Sunday through Thursday of this week. His teaching and preaching has been a real blessing to our school and church alike.
The other night he was preaching on the “great cloud of witnesses” that we have been promised as believers. He used the analogy of a huge stadium, like at the Super Bowl, where there are thousands of spectators cheering on their team. He suggested that that must be the way it is in heaven with the saints that have gone before, looking down on us. Dr. Wood then said that he had someone come up to him as say that they did find that comforting at all. The person said, “I don’t want my grandma seeing my failures!” Dr. Wood then said that in our glorified state we will have in heaven, seeing sin is not an option. The saints that have gone on before are NOT sitting in judgment; they are encouraging us.
They are cheering us on, as it were. Each trial that is conquered; a cheer goes up. Each victory is celebrated. Each new soul ushered into the Kingdom is met with praise. Think about it…those that are in heaven are there to encourage, not judge. Amen.
Might I suggest that we practice that now, as we live? Each of us knows of others that are struggling daily. We can choose to point out those failures or we can praise the small victories. Guess which will do more good?
I pray you have a wonderful week as you seek to make God smile.
