VCS Hosts NCCSA Volleyball/Soccer Tournaments Sports Passes
VCS is honored to host the State Varsity Volleyball/Varsity Soccer Tournament this fall on October 23-25. We are going to need your help! On Thursday and Friday, October 24 and 25, please remind your children that drive to school to park behind the church. Also, parents, please park at the church as well! This will help accommodate the extra needs for parking on that day. Also, please keep in mind that since this is a State tournament, your Viking Passes will not be valid. The cost for entrance will be $4 for students, $5 for adults, or $15 per each family. The Roster is as follows:
Gospel Light vs Wilson @ 2:00 on October 23
Wilmington vs Hilltop @ 4:00 on October 23
Alamance vs Friendship @ 6:00 on October 23
Bethel vs Vandalia @ 8:00 on October 23
VCS vs Wilmington @ 5:00 on October 24
Gospel Light vs Friendship @ 7:00 on October 24
VCS Hosts NCCSA State Cross Country
Please note that VCS will once again HOST the State Meet for Cross Country! If you would be willing to provide small individual bottles of water, Capri Suns, grapes, oranges, apples and bananas, cut into quarters that would be great! (Just put them in zip-top baggies – we will do the rest!) We need those given to “C” Building Office by Friday, October 31. Also, if you would like to be a line judge, let me know that as well.
The senior class is selling Chick-fil-A Calendars for 2015 to help offset the cost of their senior trip in January. These high value calendars are available for purchase through any of the offices. The cost per calendar is $7, which is less than you can buy them for at the Chick-fil-A restaurants. These calendars will be available through December 22 and they make great Christmas presents! Please give us a call if you have any questions.
Please note that there will be no daycare provided on December 26. If you will need daycare on Friday, January 2, please contact Mrs. Herriage as soon as possible.

In order to avoid any confusion, from now on, please call the office to make any changes to your phone numbers, street address or email address. Thank you!
Prison Ministry Outreach
If you have any Bibles that your family is no longer using and would like to share with others less fortunate, please consider donating them to a prison outreach ministry. Just give them to any of the school offices and we will make sure they are put in the hands of men and women in prison that are seeking.
Pasta for Pennies
Information about VCS once again sponsoring the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Pasta for Pennies campaign was sent home today. This campaign will raise funds for children that are fighting the battle against leukemia. The program will run from today through November 26. The class that raises the most money will get a FREE lunch from Olive Garden! Consider donating to this worthy cause.
We still have a limited number of Spirit Wear shirts available. Please see Mrs. James in “C” Building if you would like to purchase one. By the way, we are going to place a second order for basketball season over the next few weeks. The shirts will have the same graphic, but we will office a long sleeved version as well for the cooler months. Keep your eyes peeled!
Again this year, Vandalia Baptist Church will host AWANA, (Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed), a boys and girls club for children ages 3 through 6th grades. The program began September 10; however, it is not too late to join. The AWANA ministry is a free program held each Wednesday night from 7:00pm-8:30pm. Please contact Garrett Jackson at email@example.com or 303-2162 if you would like more information.

Word from My Heart
Most of you may remember my stories about my dog of almost 15 years, Lucky who has since passed away. Once Lucky passed I told the family that he was the one only dog we would have in our home. That promise went by the wayside quickly. We now have a little mutt named Kona. Unlike Lucky, who thought I could walk on water, she only tolerates me. The feeling is mutual. The other morning, as I was going down stairs to leave for school, I turned on the light in the guest room to encourage her to come with me and go “potty.” If dogs could talk, the look in her eyes said, “If you don’t turn that light off, I will bite you.” I turned the light off.
Can you recall a time that God “turned the light on” in your life and all you said was, “No thanks.” He wants the very best for us, but so often we just turn away. Please keep in mind that God’s way is perfect. (Psalm 18:30) Follow His will and plan….you will never be led astray.
