VCS Family Business Listing

This will be the last week that I will ask for families from our school to submit information about their business.  I will compile and email the information about family businesses next week.  If you would like to include your business, please let me know by Monday, October 28.  Thank you!

Vandalia Christian School’s Golf Tournament — Sponsors NeededVCS Golf logo

On November 16, we are having a golf tournament to raise money for the golf team. The money that is collected will go to building a chipping and putting practice area behind the playground at Building C. The money will also go to purchase golf shirts, bags and other equipment needed for the players.

We are asking for sponsors to help in our tournament. The sponsors could be a company, in memory of or in honor of someone. This would be a great way to also honor your 2014 graduating senior. Signs will be made for your sponsorship of $50-$100. The sign will be posted by one of the tee boxes’. We hope to have one or more sponsors at each of our 18 holes in order to help make this tournament a success and help give our VCS golfers the tools they need to achieve their best.

Information regarding the signs: – no pictures or logos – Text only

$50 sign (12×14)
$100 sign (18×24)

If a company already has their own sign, that can be used as well.

If you are not able to sponsor a hole, we also need giveaway items to be donated. Shirts, hats, small items, etc.

The deadline for the sponsorship is November 2.  Please contact Shane at or call him at 336-362-9040 to get signed up as a sponsor.

Spirit Shirts!

Please note that we still have a few VCS Spirit Shirts available for purchase in the “C” Building office.  We have youth small, youth medium, youth large and adult 1X, 2X and 3X.  With basketball season approaching, this would be a great time to get a shirt to show your spirit!

We still have some BBQ left over from the Fall Festival last month.  It is frozen in one pound containers.  The cost is $5 per pound.  If you would like to purchase some, please stop by “C” Building and we will be happy to assist you.

Europe Trip 2015

If you were not able to attend the meeting on Tuesday night, October 1, concerning the trip we are planning to London, Paris, Switzerland and Austria, it is not too late!  Please stop by the office in “C” Building to pick up information.  This is going to be a great trip and since it is almost two years out, it is very cost effective!  The first deadline to register for the trip and get a $200 discount will be Thursday, October 31.  Please give me a call or send me an email if you have any questions.  This is going to be an amazing trip!!!

Friends and Family Sale

On Saturday, November 2, from 9am-2pm there will be a special mattress sale open to our school family at the Sealy World Headquarters located at Sealy Drive, (One Office Parkway), Trinity, NC.  (Between, Surrett and Hwy 62)  If you need further information please email me and I will be happy, happy, happy to assist you.

Non-perishable Items:

Peanut butter, Jelly, Canned Vegetables, Pasta, Canned Pasta Sauce, Boxed Meals (Hamburger Helper, Ramen Noodles, Kraft Mac and Cheese,) Rice, Instant Potatoes, Cereal, Soup, Canned Meals, Beans, Baby Food or Oatmeal.

VCS Subway Night vcs_subway

Greensboro Ice House

There will be a special skate night at the Greensboro Ice House at 6119 Landmark Center Blvd in Greensboro, (off of Bridford Parkway), on Saturday, November 9, from 7:30-10:00pm.  If you say Vandalia Christian School, you will get the special $8.00 rate.  This can be a fun time of watching each other fall!  Invite your friends and family.

Helping VCS While You Shop

If you shop at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Target or Lifeway, please consider linking your rewards card with our school.  We get quarterly checks from them that go toward the Christmas Teacher’s Bonus Program.  Thank you for your consideration of this blessing to the teachers!

Lost & Found

Keep in mind that all lost items will be placed in “Lost & Found” in “A” and “C” buildings.  Please check these weekly if you are missing anything.  Please note that all of the unclaimed items will be donated to charity at the end of each month.  If you will write your child’s name in all clothing items, we will make sure lost are returned to you.

Word from My Heart

Well the typhoon saga continues with Drew, my Marine son, in Okinawa!  He is in the midst of the third typhoon in three weeks.  Oh, he is prepared this time to be sure, but I think the novelty of super high winds and rain is getting old!  When he texted me last night about the storm, I gave my phone to his mom who texted, “Hunker Down.”  I then turned off my phone and went to bed.  This morning I saw his response text which said, “What does ‘Hunker Down’ mean?”  I said, “Take cover!!”

It was funny but sobering at the same time.  Think about it. How many times does God say, “Take Cover” in the promises of My Word and we just ignore it.  And how many times do we find ourselves “blown away” by the temptations of this world.  I have been there…I think most of us have.  Let me challenge you to “Hunker Down” in the promises of God’s precious Word.  Life is tough, but God is Tougher.
