VCS Hosts NCCSA State Cross Country
Please note that VCS will once again HOST the State Meet for Cross Country! If you would be willing to provide small individual bottles of water, Capri Suns, grapes, oranges, apples or bananas, cut into quarters that would be great! (Just put them in zip-top baggies – we will do the rest!) We need those delivered to “C” Building Office by Friday, October 31. Also, if you would like to be a line judge, let me know that as well.
Please note that my computer died this week, so if you already offered to help with cross country, please consider resending me an email so I can confirm my helpers. Thanks!
The senior class is selling Chick-fil-A Calendars for 2015 to help offset the cost of their senior trip in January. These high value calendars are available for purchase through any of the offices. The cost per calendar is $7, which is less than you can buy them for at the Chick-fil-A restaurants. These calendars will be available through December 22 and they make great Christmas presents! Please give us a call if you have any questions. Please note each calendar includes a 2105 Calendar Card which you can use to receive the free item offered each month.
Please note that there will be no daycare provided on December 26. If you will need daycare on Friday, January 2, please contact Mrs. Herriage as soon as possible.
HeadMaster Online Parent Portal
In order to avoid any confusion, from now on instead of trying to change these yourself, please call the office to make any changes to your phone numbers, street address or email address. Thank you!
A Christmas Carol
The 11th and 12th grade English classes are producing a rendition of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol for our 2nd through 6th grade students. The presentation will be at 1:30pm on Wednesday, December 17. All parents are welcomed to attend!
Prison Ministry Outreach
If you have any Bibles that your family is no longer using and would like to share with others less fortunate, please consider donating them to a prison outreach ministry. Just give them to any of the school offices and we will make sure they are put in the hands of men and women in prison that are seeking.
Pasta for Pennies
Information about VCS once again sponsoring the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Pasta for Pennies campaign was sent home today. This campaign will raise funds for children that are fighting the battle against leukemia. The program will run from today through November 26. The class that raises the most money will get a FREE lunch from Olive Garden! Consider donating to this worthy cause.
We still have a limited number of Spirit Wear shirts available. Please see Mrs. James in “C” Building if you would like to purchase one. By the way, we are going to place a second order for the winter and spring sports seasons. The shirts will have the same graphic, but we will offer a long sleeved version as well for the cooler months. The order forms will be sent home next Wednesday, November 5 and will be due back no later than Friday, November 14.
Again this year, Vandalia Baptist Church will host AWANA, (Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed), a boys and girls club for children ages 3 through 6th grades. The program began September 10; however, it is not too late to join. The AWANA ministry is a free program held each Wednesday night from 7:00pm-8:30pm. Please contact Garrett Jackson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303-2162 if you would like more information.
Attractions Book Sale
Thank you to all who participated in the Attractions Book Sale. If you have not turned in or paid for your book(s), please do so this week. Keep in mind that we still extra books in the office if you would like to purchase one. Please contact Mrs. Frazier at extension 19.
We are looking for a part time accompanist to work with our choral groups this year. If are interested or know of someone that might be, please contact me. Thank you!
Word from My Heart
I remember the first computer I got. It was 1989 and I was on Guam in my first year of being a principal. It was a Gateway 2000 with a 40 megabyte hard drive. When it was set up in my office our IT man said, “This will be the only computer you will ever need.” Needless to say that was not that case.
I love technology and all of the conveniences it brings. But technology is one of those things we often take for granted. This week I had a rude awaking. I came into work Monday and noticed that my computer was displaying the “blue screen of death.” I did not realize how much I depended on my computer until it was not available. Thanks to our school’s “computer guru” I am now back online and working to get caught up.
While I was off-line, however, I reflected on the fact that our precious Savior and Lord never “goes off-line.” He is always available for us. All we have to do, as His children, is to whisper His name and He is ready for us to fall into His loving hands.
You might be going through a trial at this very moment; remember that your Heavenly Father is always ready to help you.
