We have a position open in our after-school program. The hours would be Monday through Friday 3:00pm-6:00pm. We are looking for someone who is flexible, self-motivated and able to supervise children. This person must be a Christian, 18 years of age or older and someone that loves children. If you are interested or know of someone that is, please contact Mrs. Herriage at 336-379-8380, X13.
We have a school family that is looking for a high school level math tutor. Please contact me if you know of someone interested. Thank you!
As part of our out-reach program, we would like to collect any unused Bibles you might have around your home. We will collect them at “C” Building. Thank you.
NCCSA Cross County
I cannot begin to say how thankful I am for all the help we got from the XC parents, Pastor Spicer, Mr. Cordova, Coach Oates, Miss Hazelwood, Mrs. McDowell, the VCS Cheerleaders and so many others to make the XC State Meet such a success. I am so thankful for all of you!
We Need Your Help!
VCS is hosting a “new food collection” drive for families and people in need. Below is a list of non-perishables that will help those who may need a little help to “make ends meet.” You could also consider donating a gift card from a local grocery store to help with perishable purchases for the needy families; we will accept donations at any time during the school year. Thank you so much for your help.
Peanut butter, Jelly, Canned Vegetables, Pasta, Canned Pasta Sauce, Boxed Meals (Hamburger Helper, Ramen Noodles, Kraft Mac and Cheese,) Rice, Instant Potatoes, Cereal, Soup, Canned Meals, Beans, Baby Food or Oatmeal.
Thus far VCS has collected nearly 400 lbs. of food for this cause! That is amazing. Keep up the good work!
Vandalia Christian School’s Golf Tournament — Sponsors Needed
On November 16, we are having a golf tournament to raise money for the golf team. The money that is collected will go to building a chipping and putting practice area behind the playground at Building C. The money will also go to purchase golf shirts, bags and other equipment needed for the players.
We are asking for sponsors to help in our tournament. The sponsors could be a company, in memory of or in honor of someone. This would be a great way to also honor your 2014 graduating senior. Signs will be made for your sponsorship of $50-$100. The sign will be posted by one of the tee boxes’. We hope to have one or more sponsors at each of our 18 holes in order to help make this tournament a success and help give our VCS golfers the tools they need to achieve their best.
Information regarding the signs: – no pictures or logos – Text only
$50 sign (12×14)
$100 sign (18×24)
If a company already has their own sign, that can be used as well.
If you are not able to sponsor a hole, we also need giveaway items to be donated. Shirts, hats, small items, etc.
The deadline for the sponsorship is November 2. Please contact Shane at email@example.com or call him at 336-362-9040 to get signed up as a sponsor.
Please note that we still have a few VCS Spirit Shirts available for purchase in the “C” Building office. We have youth small, youth medium, youth large and adult 1X, 2X and 3X. With basketball season approaching, this would be a great time to get a shirt to show your spirit! We will not order any more shirts this season, so now is the time to get shirts to show support during basketball season.
VCS PTF BBQ
We still have some BBQ left over from the Fall Festival last month. It is frozen in one pound containers. The cost is $5 per pound. If you would like to purchase some, please stop by “C” Building and we will be happy to assist you.
Europe Trip 2015
If you were not able to attend the meeting on Tuesday night, October 1, concerning the trip we are planning to London, Paris, Switzerland and Austria, it is not too late! Please stop by the office in “C” Building to pick up information. This is going to be a great trip and since it is almost two years out, it is very cost effective! Please give me a call or send me an email if you have any questions. Please note that when you register online, our tour number is 1432788JD. That is different from the label on the flier you may have gotten. Sorry about confusion. This is going to be an amazing trip!!!
VCS Subway Night
Dear Vandalia Family, the next VIKING NIGHT at the Subway Restaurant located at 3212 Randleman Road across the street from the RUSH beside Food Lion, (only minutes from the school), will be TONIGHT, November 13 and December 11 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. VCS will receive a gracious percentage of the net sales. Consider stopping by and get a healthy, fresh and delicious dinner…and help the school out at the same time! Tell your friends and other family members to come out for this great event.
Helping VCS While You Shop
If you shop at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Target or Lifeway, please consider linking your rewards card with our school. We get quarterly checks from them that go toward the Christmas Teacher’s Bonus Program. Thank you for your consideration of this blessing to the teachers!

Lost & Found
Keep in mind that all lost items will be placed in “Lost & Found” in “A” and “C” buildings. Please check these weekly if you are missing anything. Please note that all of the unclaimed items will be donated to charity at the end of each month. If you will write your child’s name in all clothing items, we will make sure anything lost is returned to you.
Word from My Heart
I talked to my Marine this morning. It is amazing to see the little boy you held in your arms just a “few short years ago” all grown up and serving his country. OoRah!
Talking to him made we think about the service we owe to our Lord. We all need to do all we can do to honor our Savior. One step at a time, one day at a time, just keeping on keeping on!
