Congratulations New NHS Members

NHS LogoToday, VCS inducted its newest members to our chapter of the National Honor Society.  (Our second largest group of inductees since its founding in 1985.)  Congratulations to the following students: Mandie Beale, Christian Dickerson, Donovan Durham, Abby Everhart, Brandon Ferguson, Nicole Greene, Madison Hartley, Hayden Johnson, Koehna Jordan, Austin Mathis, Kaylee McBride, Morgan McDowell, Makayla Miller, Max Murdoch, Laurie Powell, Jenna Shy, Holly Sims, Jacob Stone, Andrew Strickland, Courtney Woods and Nicole Woods. 

The Inspirations Gospel Singing

The InspirationsOn December 6, The Inspirations will hold a concert at VCS.  The concert will be held in the VCS Gym beginning at 6:30pm.  Even though this is a free concert, an offering will be taken.  Please let your pastor and church members know about this event.  We want to “pack out the gym” for this Christ-honoring event.

Christmas Card Sale Winners

Thank you to all that helped with this year’s Christmas Card Sale.  The following students were our top sellers:

Mrs. Burchett’s class had the highest participation and enjoyed a pizza party on Tuesday, November 11.

VCS Is Going NUTS!

We have a limited number of fresh, this year’s crop, packages of 12 ounce Raw Pecan Halves, Salted and Roasted Pecan Halves, Chocolate Covered Pecans, and Roasted Salted Cashews.  The cost is $6.25 per bag.  If you would like to purchase some, please stop by Mrs. Frazier’s desk in the gym building office.

Five-Below

VCS has once again been honored to partner with “Five-Below” at 4217 Wendover Avenue in Greensboro for a way to purchase some great products and help our school at the same time.  VCS will receive 10% of the proceeds spent from December 8 – 14.  You must present the flyer that will be sent home next Wednesday at check out to help our school.  Thank you!

COW-lendars

The senior class is selling Chick-fil-A Calendars for 2015 to help offset the cost of their senior trip in January.  These high value calendars are available for purchase through any of the offices.  The cost per calendar is $7, which is less than you can buy them for at the Chick-fil-A restaurants.  These calendars will be available through December 22 and they make great Christmas presents!  Please give us a call if you have any questions.  Please note: each calendar includes a 2105 Calendar Card which you can use to receive the free item offered each month. This sale ends on December 22!

Daycare Information

Please note that there will be no daycare provided on December 26.  We will have daycare available on Friday, January 2 for parents that need this service and have students already enrolled.

A Christmas Carol

A Christmas CarolThe 12th grade English classes are producing a rendition of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol for our 2nd through 6th grade students.  The presentation will be a 1:30pm on Wednesday, December 17, in the Gym.  All parents are welcomed to attend!

Prison Ministry Outreach

If you have any Bibles that your family is no longer using and would like to share with others less fortunate, please consider donating them to a prison outreach ministry.  Just give them to any of the school offices and we will make sure they are put in the hands of men and women in prison that are seeking.

Pasta for Pennies

The “Pasta for Pennies” campaign is designed to raise funds for children that are fighting the battle against leukemia.  The program will run through November 26.  The class that raises the most money will get a FREE lunch from Olive Garden!  Consider donating to this worthy cause.

Spirit Winter-Wear

Check your Inbox for an order form for VCS sweatshirts and fleece jackets for this winter season.  Orders are due by November 26.

AWANA

Again this year, Vandalia Baptist Church will host AWANA, (Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed), a boys and girls club for children ages 3 through 6th grades.  The program began September 10; however, it is not too late to join.  The AWANA ministry is a free program held each Wednesday night from 7:00pm-8:30pm.  Please contact Garrett Jackson at gdjackson397@gmail.com or 303-2162 if you would like more information.

Word from My Heart

It’s that time of the year when I have very little space to write my “Word from My Heart.”  Suffice it to say that I am thankful for your individual families and our BIG VCS Family.  Thanksgiving is quickly approaching; please don’t wait until then to thank God for all He has given.  We are a blessed people…tell someone today what he or she means to you.
