Congratulations Fine Arts Members

Last Thursday – Saturday, many of our band and choir members traveled to Raleigh to participate at the annual NCCSA Fine Arts Clinic/Festival. I heard many great things about this trip and it seems they had a great time and did very well in the clinics and performances.  Thank you to Mrs. Young and Mrs. Ellis for their hard work and thank you, parents, for your support to ensure that all went well. Most of all, thank you to the students for your hard work and the good testimony presented before all of the other schools in attendance.  I feel certain that the Lord was honored.

Exam Schedules

Exam schedules will be emailed to all of our parents this week.  If you do not get one or would prefer a hard copy, please stop by “A” or “C” buildings.  Students and parents in grades 7-12 need to read this information carefully as it details the schedule for exam week.  Please note that students with an average of 94 or above are exempt from exams.  However, if they desire to take the exam in hopes of increasing their average, they may.

Christmas Concerts

Remember the upcoming Christmas Concerts and make your plans to attend.  Note that the fine arts teachers will send home information this week about what your children are asked to wear for the concerts.  If you have any questions about attire or arrival times, please give us a call.

VCS Vikings Sports

Basketball season is underway! Take note of the digital board in front of the gym for upcoming games.  There is also a listing of the season’s games on our website.  On Nov. 20 the JV Boys, V. Girls and V. Boys will travel to Caldwell.  On Nov. 21, VCS will host Salem Baptist, on Nov. 24, the Middle School Boys and JV Girls will travel to Canterbury and the JV Boys, V. Girls and V. Boys will travel to Burlington Christian.  Contact your child’s coach if you have any questions about travel times.  Directions to “Away” games are posted on our website.

The Inspirations Gospel Singing

On December 6 The Inspirations will hold a concert at VCS.  The concert will be held in the VCS Gym beginning at 6:30pm.  Even though this is a free concert, an offering will be taken.  Please let your pastor and church members know about this event.  We want to “pack out the gym” for this Christ-honoring event.

VCS Is Going NUTS!

Fresh, this year’s crop, 12 oz. packages of Raw Pecan Halves, Salted and Roasted Pecan Halves, Chocolate Covered Pecans and Roasted Salted Cashews are available at  Mrs. Frazier’s’ Office.  The cost is $6.26 per bag.

Digital Sign

Remember to check out the new sign in the front of the Gym for announcements!

Five-Below

Once again VCS will partner with “Five-Below” at 4217 Wendover Avenue in Greensboro for a unique way to purchase some great products and help our school at the same time. VCS receives 10% of the proceeds spent from December 8-14.  You must present the flyer at “checkout” that was sent home last week for VCS to receive credit for your purchases.  Thank you!

COW-lendars

The senior class is selling Chick-fil-A Calendars for 2015 to help offset the cost of their senior trip.  These high value calendars are available for purchase through any of the offices at $7 each, which is less than you can buy them for at Chick-fil-A restaurants.  They make great Christmas gifts. Give us a call if you have any questions.  Each calendar includes a 2105 Calendar Card that can be used to receive the free item offered each month. This sale ends on December 22!

Daycare Information

Please note that there will be no daycare provided on December 26.  We will have daycare available on Friday, January 2 for parents that need this service and have students already enrolled.

A Christmas Carol

The 12th grade English classes are producing a rendition of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at 1:30pm on Wednesday, December 17, in the Gym for all 2nd-6th grade students and their parents.

Prison Ministry Outreach

If you have any Bibles that you are no longer using and would like to give them to others less fortunate, consider donating them to a prison outreach ministry.  Give them to any of the school offices and we will ensure they are put in the hands of men and women in prison that are seeking.

Pasta for Pennies

The “Pasta for Pennies” campaign is designed to raise funds for children that are fighting the battle against leukemia.  The program will run through November 26.  The class that raises the most money will get a FREE lunch from Olive Garden!  Consider donating to this worthy cause.

Spirit Winter-Wear

Check your Inbox for an order form for VCS sweatshirts and fleece jackets for this winter season.  Orders are due by November 26.  See Mrs. James in “C” building office if you need an order form or to see samples.

Attractions Book Sale

Keep in mind that we still have extra books in the office if you would like to purchase one.  Please contact Mrs. Frazier at extension 19.

Word from My Heart

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching. I love this holiday and look forward to the time I get to spend with family and friends.  Yet how many of us are guilty of relegating the things that we should be thankful for everyday to the fourth Thursday of November.  We should celebrate “Thanksgiving” daily!  We are so blessed and undeservedly so.  As you anticipate Thanksgiving next week, start your list of blessing today.  Share them with those you love over the next few days and see how both of you are blessed.
