How amazing is it that we are talking about Christmas Concerts? Our Fine Arts Department has worked diligently with our students to prepare for the upcoming concerts to honor the birth of our Lord and Savior. Please mark your calendars now to attend as many of these concerts as you can.
Band/Fine Arts Clinic
Congratulations to our band and fine arts department for their great work in last week’s NCCSA clinic in Raleigh. They did a great job and represented our school very well.
WILDS Day at VCS
Last Friday, November 15, VCS hosted the WILDS evangelistic team for a special WILDS Day! It was amazing to see the 7th-12th graders have a fun day and hear some Godly preaching from the Word. It reinforced some of the things they learned back in September while we were at the WILDS in Brevard. God is so good.
We have a position open in our after-school program. The hours would be Monday through Friday 3:00pm-6:00pm. We are looking for someone who is flexible, self-motivated and able to supervise children. This person must be a Christian, 18 years of age or older and someone that loves children. If you are interested or know of someone that is, please contact Mrs. Herriage at 336-379-8380, X13.
As part of our out-reach program, we would like to collect any unused Bibles you might have around your home. We will collect them at “C” Building. Thank you.
Christmas Teacher Appreciation
Starting the week we get back from Thanksgiving, we will host our annual “Christmas Teacher Appreciation Drive.” Please keep an eye out for the flyers and consider donating to this great cause. We will post the progress of the donations on the Digital Bulletin Boards in each of the school buildings.
We Need Your Help!
VCS is hosting a “new food collection” drive for families and people in need. Below is a list of non-perishables that will help those who may need a little help to “make ends meet.” You could also consider donating a gift card from a local grocery store to help with perishable purchases for the needy families; we will accept donations at any time during the school year. Thank you so much for your help.
With the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays approaching, please consider donating yams/sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, canned hams, boxed potatoes, stuffing, rice and macaroni.
Peanut butter, Jelly, Canned Vegetables, Pasta, Canned Pasta Sauce, Boxed Meals (Hamburger Helper, Ramen Noodles, Kraft Mac and Cheese,) Rice, Instant Potatoes, Cereal, Soup, Canned Meals, Beans, Baby Food or Oatmeal.
Thus far VCS has collected nearly 450 lbs. of food for this cause! That is amazing. Keep up the good work!
Please note that we still have a few VCS Spirit Shirts that we ordered back in August available for purchase in the “C” Building office. We have youth small, youth medium, youth large and adult 1X, 2X and 3X. With basketball season approaching, this would be a great time to get a shirt to show your spirit! We will not order any more shirts this season, so now is the time to get shirts to show support during basketball season. Remember, these are the only t-shirts that can be worn to school on home game days.
Please remember that tuition is due by the first of each month. If you have any problems or concerns, please feel free to contact Mrs. Overacker and 379-8380 x.14. Report cards, progress reports, access to HeadMaster Online and transcripts will not be available if accounts are not current. Thank you for your understanding.
VCS PTF BBQ
We still have some BBQ left over from the Fall Festival last month. It is frozen in one pound containers. The cost is $5 per pound. If you would like to purchase some, please stop by “C” Building and we will be happy to assist you.
Europe Trip 2015
If you were not able to attend the meeting on Tuesday night, October 1, concerning the trip we are planning to London, Paris, Switzerland and Austria, it is not too late! Please stop by the office in “C” Building to pick up information. This is going to be a great trip and since it is almost two years out, it is very cost effective! Please give me a call or send me an email if you have any questions. Please note that when you register online, our tour number is 1432788JD. That is different from the label on the flier you may have gotten. Sorry about confusion. This is going to be an amazing trip!!!
VCS Subway Night
Dear Vandalia Family, the next VIKING NIGHT at the Subway Restaurant located at 3212 Randleman Road across the street from the RUSH beside Food Lion, (only minutes from the school), will be December 11 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. VCS will receive a gracious percentage of the net sales. Consider stopping by and get a healthy, fresh and delicious dinner…and help the school out at the same time! Tell your friends and other family members to come out for this great event.
Helping VCS While You Shop
If you shop at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Target or Lifeway, please consider linking your rewards card with our school. We get quarterly checks from them that go toward the Christmas Staff Appreciation Drive. Thank you for your consideration of this blessing to the teachers!

Lost & Found
Keep in mind that all lost items will be placed in “Lost & Found” in “A” and “C” buildings. Please check these weekly if you are missing anything. Please note that all of the unclaimed items will be donated to charity at the end of each month. If you will write your child’s name in all clothing items, we will make sure anything lost is returned to you.
Word from My Heart
Today I heard from Drew, my Marine overseas. It has been a very tough week for him in several ways. Drew has never been a “man of few words,” he gets it honestly; he is just like his dad. But after the last ten days he had but four words to say, “I am so thankful.”
With Thanksgiving Day just a few days away, I think we can all echo that sentiment. With the many problems we have in our nation, families, churches and relationships we still have so much for which to be thankful. Take a moment and inventory what you have….God is faithful and good. What else do we need?
