VCS Hosted NCCSA State Cross Country
Thank you to all that helped to make this year’s Cross Country Meet a great success! If it were not for the help of our XC Parents and the VCS Cheerleaders, this event would not have been as successful as it was. Congratulations as well to Whitney McDowell for coming in 2nd place in the State in a field of over 130 runners. Congratulations as well to all of our runners for their hard word this season.
If you are not already aware of this, next week is CFNCs college application week. Community colleges and several colleges and universities waive their application fees for the week. Here’s a link with more info.
VCS has once again been honored to partner with “Five-Below” at 4217 Wendover Avenue in Greensboro for a way to purchase some great products and help our school at the same time. VCS will receive 10% of the proceeds spent from December 8 – 14. You must present the flyer that will be sent home next Wednesday at check out to help our school. Thank you!
The senior class is selling Chick-fil-A Calendars for 2015 to help offset the cost of their senior trip in January. These high value calendars are available for purchase through any of the offices. The cost per calendar is $7, which is less than you can buy them for at the Chick-fil-A restaurants. These calendars will be available through December 22 and they make great Christmas presents! Please give us a call if you have any questions. Please note each calendar includes a 2105 Calendar Card which you can use to receive the free item offered each month.
Please note that there will be no daycare provided on December 26. If your child is currently enrolled in daycare and you will need our services on Friday, January 2, please contact Mrs. Herriage as soon as possible. Please let us know by the November 7 so we can make our plans! Thank you!
A Christmas Carol
The 12th grade English classes are producing a rendition of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carolfor our 2nd through 6th grade students. The presentation will be a 1:30pm on Wednesday, December 17, in the Gym. All parents are welcomed to attend!
Prison Ministry Outreach
If you have any Bibles that your family is no longer using and would like to share with others less fortunate, please consider donating them to a prison outreach ministry. Just give them to any of the school offices and we will make sure they are put in the hands of men and women in prison that are seeking.
Pasta for Pennies
Information about VCS once again sponsoring the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Pasta for Pennies campaign was sent home today. This campaign will raise funds for children that are fighting the battle against leukemia. The program will run from today through November 26. The class that raises the most money will get a FREE lunch from Olive Garden! Consider donating to this worthy cause.
A new “Re-boot” order form for VCS Spirit Wear was emailed to you today. If you did not receive an order form, please stop by any of the school offices to pick one up. GO VIKINGS!
Again this year, Vandalia Baptist Church will host AWANA, (Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed), a boys and girls club for children ages 3 through 6th grades. The program began September 10; however, it is not too late to join. The AWANA ministry is a free program held each Wednesday night from 7:00pm-8:30pm. Please contact Garrett Jackson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303-2162 if you would like more information.

Word from My Heart
This past summer I canned a number of items. Tomatoes, peppers, beans….etc. Canning is cathartic for me. (It’s kind of like mowing my yard….I just put in my ear buds and tune out the world for a few hours and then have something to show for it afterwards.) The funny thing is that I don’t want the family to use any of the canned goods I preserved. My children have since started calling my jars of love “apocalypse beans.” If they reach for a jar I say, “You know I can get a can of that at Lowes Foods for buck?” They look at me as if I have lost my mind and say, “Why did you can this? Just to look at it?” Of course not! But you never know when you might need something you can’t get from the grocery store in a pinch….right?
Setting up treasures on earth can be useful, but they are not eternal. Setting up treasures in Heaven ARE eternal. How do we do that? First of all we must make sure that our personal relationship with Jesus Christ is right by confessing our sins and asking Him to forgive us and to be Lord of our lives. The next way we can store up treasures in Heaven is by investing in our loved ones and our children.
Are you setting the right example before your family…in all you do? Take a moment to contemplate on how you are “canning” for the future.
