Return America – Take A Stand Rally
On Tuesday, September 30, Return America will once again host a rally on the Halifax Mall behind the NC Legislative Building in Raleigh. We would like to take as many of our 10th – 12th grade students as possible along with their teachers and any parents that might like to attend. The school has chartered two buses and we will take our coach. Once the permission slips come in I will have an idea of how many available seats we will have for parents. This is a free trip and we will even purchase lunch for all attendees on the way back to school. We will leave on September 30 at 8:30am and return by 3:00pm that afternoon. Permission slips have been given out and must be returned by September 19 in order for your child to attend this important and historic event. All classwork assignments will be forgiven for that day.
Please visit www.returnamerica.org for more information about this upcoming event.
Again this year, Vandalia Baptist Church will host AWANA, (Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed), a boys and girls club for children ages 3 through 6th grade. The program will begin TONIGHT, September 10. The AWANA ministry is a free program held each Wednesday night from 7:00pm-8:30pm. Please contact Garrett Jackson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303-2162 if you would like more information. Although not required, you can pre-register at www.vandaliabaptist.com/awana/register. We hope to see you tonight!
Tomorrow, September 11, VCS will host its annual Grandparents Day. Forms were sent home last week concerning this event. This is open to students in grades K3-6 and their grandparents, please no moms and dads due to space constraints. There is no cost to Grandparents, but student meals will be $3.00 each.
We are looking for some help in our afterschool program from 2:45pm until 6:00pm Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Mrs. Herriage at 379-8380.
Starting soon, PowerAide Zero will be available in the vending machines in the gym. I would appreciate your feedback on this new item.
Thank you to all that have been diligently selling Back-to-School BBQ tickets. We are looking forward to a great time next week. Please note that in conjunction with the festival we will have a book fair and bake sale. Please stop by the Book Fair tables starting Thursday, September 11 on Grandparent’s Day through Saturday, September 13. Also, if you would like to donate home baked items for the bake sale, please bring them to the “C” building office by Friday afternoon, September 12. Check your email inbox, flyers were emailed today. Thank you!
VCS “Five BELOW” Opportunity
“Five Below” is offering a special week of fundraising for Vandalia. During the week of September 28 through October 4 you can shop at Five Below on Wendover Avenue and 10% of every purchase will be given to our school. Just show them your flyer that we will be sending to you and it’s in the bag (no pun intended)! When you receive your flyer, you can make as many copies as you like and shop as many times as you want. Be sure to tell all your friends too!”
If you or your child in grades 7-12 and all alumni and friends, might be interested in a trip to Europe with VCS this summer, please consider attending the final informational meeting Tuesday, September 16 at 7:00pm in the Vandalia Baptist Church Auditorium. This trip to England, France and Austria will be amazing!

VCS PTF Consignment Sale
Thank you to all that helped and participated in the PTF VCS Consignment Sale held on August 4-9. It was a great success!
Word from My Heart
Can you believe that we are in our 4th full week of school! Yikes! Time flies when you are having fun and studying! What a blessing it has been over the last few weeks to see our returning students, new families and alumni. Recently I was doing a Bible study on family and found that there are dozens of verses directly referring to the family. As I am sure you are I am thankful for the family I was born into, as well as my school family. Let’s commit today to pray for each other that God will bless and provide. DL Moody once said, “A man ought to live so that everybody knows he is a Christian….and most of all, his family ought to know.”Thank you for being a part of the VCS Family.
